Eva and Calvin’s trip to Australia from Hong Kong took an unexpected (but amazing!) turn with a surprise proposal and a 3-day road trip across the Grampians National Park, Mornington Peninsula and the Great Ocean Road.
Photographer Lowina Blackman from Black Avenue Productions helped pull off this beautiful surprise, “Originally Calvin and Eva just wanted some ‘professional photographs’ so they could create a memorable travel album,” Says Lowina.
“Secretly Calvin told us that he would like to propose to Eva during the trip to the Grampians and asked us to capture the special moment.”
In such a beautiful natural setting, the Black Avenue team were able to capture some captivating engagement-style shots, complete with a wedding dress that Lowina sourced for Eva (anyone else sensing a photographer-of-the-year vibe here?!).
The Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia
Grampians National Park is a stunning nature reserve in north west Victoria, Australia. It’s known for its breath-taking sandstone mountains, wildflowers and wildlife including echidnas, possums, Kangaroos and wallabies. Near the village of Halls Gap, the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre gives insight into local Aboriginal history and rock art. Popular trails and walking tracks lead to waterfalls like the towering MacKenzie Falls and lookouts such as the famous Balconies, with unbelievable panoramic views of the beautiful Victorian Range mountains.
Eva + Calvin | The love story
Calvin (38, Admin Supervisor/musician) met Eva (28, Marketing Manager) via mutual friends at a rock concert that Calvin was promoting. However, their friendship didn’t blossom until three years later in the summer of 2014, when they met up again at a friend’s hiphop party. Calvin took the chance to ask Eva on a date to his local annual rockabilly festival. They both had a great time and their love story then began.
In 2017, Eva & Calvin decided to have an exciting gift for their 3rd anniversary; an 8-month trip backpacking accross 17 countries. In the 4th month of arriving in Australia, Calvin started to plan his secret proposal to Eva. A few good friends of Calvin were also involved, especially Lowina from Black Avenue Productions who helped to capture all the beautiful images and memorable moments during the engagement session at the Grampians.
