Many couples we photograph like to keep things simple and just want to have fun and have their wedding photos captured naturally. None more so then the beautiful couple we met in July, Lisa and Marcel. They had decided to get married on 7/7/17, which must have been a lucky number because there were also 12 other couples getting married that day and the Victorian Marriage Registry at the Old Treasury Building, Melbourne on Spring Street was a hive a bustling activity.

Lisa and Marcel were happy to keep their guest list small and intimate, which made life easier for us because we love shooting real candid moments that genuinely show the love of the couple and their guests.

We absolutely loved Lisa’s white and pink wedding dress, which was a dress that she had custom made and altered from something she wore as a bridesmaid to her close friend’s wedding the year before in New Zealand. This dress carried a lot of sentimental value and also spiced things up a little from the usual traditional white gowns and dresses.

While Lisa was happy to do her own make-up, her bridal hair was created by Spencer & Co. in South Melbourne, and looked absolutely gorgeous. We highly recommend checking them out.
Well, luck must have indeed been on the couple’s side because the ceremony went off without a hitch, aside from a few happy tears, and with a small family-only crowd watching it felt all the more intimate and personal.
Black Avenue Productions felt privileged to shoot in such a relaxed atmosphere.
One thing we truly loved was Lisa and Marcel’s decision to walk into the ceremony and down the aisle together, hand-in-hand and full of love. A very different take to how ‘walking down the aisle’ usually goes and we loved it!

After the ceremony concluded we pulled the lovely couple aside to make use of the beautiful surroundings of the Old Treasury Building and nearby Fitzroy Gardens.
After which, the day was over. A simple yet memorable four-hours of shooting a couple who proved that your perfect wedding day does not need to be full of bells and whistles and that following your heart and desires can be as easy and simple as you want it to be.
